BLUEBERRY PIC'N TIME ON THE FARM

HERE'S HOW BERRIES GET TO YOUR WHEATIES BREAKFAST TABLE

CAP'N BOB HAULING LUGS TO THE FIELD 99 DEG F IN THE SHADE
The trailer shown is stacked with containers called "lugs".  These lugs are designed to stack inside each other, when empty as shown; however, they can be stacked on TOP of each other when full of berries by simply "rotating" the lug being stacked so that the berries will not be crushed by the weight of the next "stacked lugs".

UN'CA VERSIE (AKA VIRGIL TAYLOR) RUNNING BERRY PICKER

Berries shown here are being picked by machine.  The machine straddles the rows and a series of oscillating flappers gently shake the berry bushes causing the ripest berries to fall onto a conveyor belt.  The belt delivers the berries (on each side) to a rear shute that drops the berries into the "lugs" placed for containing the berries for delivery to the "packing shed" for further packing and processing.
